Industry News

The 80th Venice International Film Festival kicked off yesterday, but how will it fare compared to last year’s event? As a result of the ongoing strikes, few major actors will be in attendance, and some movies like MGM’s “Challengers” have been pulled from the original lineup.

And speaking of film festivals, the Toronto International Film Festival kicks off September 7th. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the most anticipated movies on its roster.

Did you take advantage of the $4 movie tickets (and other deals) last weekend on National Cinema Day? Well, 8.5 million people sure did. Attendance was up 5% from last year and movie goers generated over $34 million in ticket sales.
